Zambrero founder sues former CEO

Dr Sam Prince, the founder of restaurant chain Zambrero, is suing former CEO Stuart Cook for misleading or deceptive conduct. A former medical student turned entrepreneur, Prince founded Zambrero in 2005 and brought Cook on board four years later. Cook left the Mexican fast-food chain in 2015 and sold his shares in the business. He has since founded an advisory firm (TWIYO) The World Is Your Oyster, and with his wife Samantha launched a fast food venture, Flave.

JB Hi-Fi posts lower sales, citing challenging trading environment

Electronics and appliance retailer JB Hi-Fi reported total sales of $5.16 billion for the six months ended December 31, down from $5.3 billion year on year. The company’s net profit after tax was $264.3 million compared to last year’s $330 million. Temple & Webster’s revenue grows as customer base hits 1 million

Temple & Webster’s revenue significantly grew in the fiscal first half, driven by growth in both repeat and first-time customers. The online furniture retailer saw its revenue increase 23 per cent to $254 million while net income rose 6 per cent to $4.1 million in the six months to December 31. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) climbed 2.3 per cent to $7.5 million and the EBITDA margin was at 2.9 per cent, at the top end of the full-year guidance.

Children’s Place Looks for New Financing as Losses Widen

Breville’s net income, revenue increase in first-half amid higher EMEA sales

Ex-Arcadia brands and Debenhams narrow losses under Boohoo ownership

The former Arcadia brands and Debenhams, which were snapped up by Boohoo in 2021, have narrowed its losses after two years under the fast fashion group’s ownership. Dorothy Perkins reported the biggest drop in pre-tax losses, narrowing from £15.9m to £1.2m in the year end to 28 February 2023, despite posting a 30% drop in sales to £52.5m. This was followed by Debenhams, Boohoo’s largest acquisition, which shrunk its losses from £11m to £732,000 boosted by sales skyrocketing 53% to £87m.

B&Q ups hourly rate as it claims to be UK’s highest paying retailer

B&Q will increase its UK minimum hourly rate to £12.21 per hour and £13.55 in London, making it the highest paying major retailer in the country, it claims.
