Australian label Princess Polly opens its first physical store in the US

Australian fast-fashion brand Princess Polly has expanded in the US opening a flagship store in Los Angeles. Established in 2005 by husband-and-wife team Wez and Eirin Bryett, the Gold Coast brand sells on-trend women’s clothing for predominantly Gen Z consumers. Since its entry online in 2019, the company says US sales have made up the majority of its revenue.

Morrisons in talks to sell £2.5bn petrol forecourts business

Morrisons is in talks to sell its petrol forecourts business to Motor Fuel Group (MFG), which is also owned by private equity firm CD&R. A deal could come in the next month or two for Morrisons’ 340 forecourts, which Sky News reported could be worth around £2.5bn. CD&R had flagged the “potential opportunity for a commercial operational partnership between Morrisons and MFG” two years ago.

John Lewis Partnership is set to report another loss this week at its half-year results, its first under the helm of new chief executive Nish Kankiwala. However, losses are expected to come in lower than the £99m shortfall posted a year previously, according to The Mail on Sunday. It is not unusual for John Lewis to make a loss in its first half – it has in three out of the last four years – as it does not cover the critical Christmas trading period.

The supermarket chain said it had increased the use of “covert” security staff to catch theives in stores, The Telegraph reported. Waitrose slashes prices for third time this year
