Walmart Rolls Out New Text-to-Shop Service

OMG! Walmart customers have a new way to shop — by text message. The retailer’s new Text to Shop capability launched Dec. 14, 2022, and is available for free on iOS and Android devices. . Once a customer enrolls, they are given a QR code that launches a text chat with Walmart on their phone. From there a customer simply texts the items they need. The retailer’s full product selection is available through the service, including items at their local store and from Walmart.com.

Sale of David Jones to private equity firm reportedly in final stages

Private equity firm Anchorage Capital Partners is reportedly in the final stages of acquiring David Jones from Woolworths Holdings, the South African retail giant that bought the department store chain for $2.1 billion in 2014. The Australian Financial Review reported on Wednesday that Woolworths Holdings’ deal with Anchorage Capital was imminent and estimated to be between $120 million and $130 million, a fraction of what the company paid for David Jones eight years ago.
