November’s retail sales show that Americans went shopping in October

Retail sales for November fell 0.6 percent, below the 0.3 percent drop expected by Wall Street, reflecting that consumers began their Christmas and holiday season shopping in October. Sales were up 6.5 percent year-over-year, below the 7.1 percent Consumer Price Index inflation rate.
