CVS Plans to Close 271 Stores in 2025 as Part of Multi-Year Savings Plan

In August 2024 , CVS Health identified a multi-year opportunity to deliver $2 billion in savings via a variety of methods, and one of those methods will be closing a total of 271 physical stores in 2025, according to the pharmacy retailers 2024 Annual Report. These closures are in addition to the 900 stores CVS shuttered between November 2021 and December 2024; the retailer still operates more than 9,000 locations.

Uniqlo set to revamp its Melbourne flagship

Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo is set to transform its flagship store with a major renovation aimed at delivering a bigger and better shopping experience. The store, located in Emporium Melbourne at 287 Lonsdale Street, will temporarily close from July 6 and is scheduled to reopen late this year. ABS finds steady growth in spending in Australian retail sector

Sainsbury’s CEO takes home £5m in pay

Sainsburys chief executive Simon Roberts took home over 5m in pay last year as the supermarket chains underlying retail profits swelled to 1bn. Lidl, Halfords and The Range ordered to pay short-changed staff

Lidl has been forced to pay a six-figure sum to thousands of its employees whose salaries fell below the national minimum wage. The supermarket chain joins Halfords, The Range owner CDS Superstores and over 500 other companies to be called out by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) for short-changing staff between 2015 and 2022. The discounter was found to have had underpaid 3,423 of its workers by a total of 286,437.18, which has since been repaid.
