Supermarket chain Aldi has dropped its plan to expand into online shopping believing it might affect its ability to continue providing low-cost products for customers. The company dismantled its online team late last year following serious consideration, according to Jordan Lack, Aldi MD of buying. “The greater concern is the impact on cost structure as fundamentally keeping our costs low has a direct impact on the prices we can offer our customers,” he told the Australian Financial Review.

A Denver District Court judge has stopped the Kroger-Albertsons merger in its tracks, cancelling a planned Aug. 12 hearing and setting a trial date of Sept. 30, 2024. Carpetright suppliers, customers and landlords have been left £80m out of pocket following the chain’s collapse at the start of the week. According to documents seen by The Times , the flooring specialist’s trade creditors including Condor and AW Weavers were owed around £24m at the time of its collapse. JD Sports workers at a warehouse in Derby are facing potential job losses, with the future of the distribution centre under review.
