JB Hi-Fi says full-year profit fell, but sales up 4.3 per cent

Trans-Tasman electronics retailer JB Hi-Fi has reported a profit slump for the full year however, sales growth remained favourable. The business said sales grew 4.3 per cent to $9.63 billion while tax-paid profit fell 3.7 per cent to $524.6 million. In Australia, sales grew 5.6 per cent to $6.55 billion while comparable sales were up 4.8 per cent and online sales declined by 20.9 per cent to $940 million.

Wilko owners took £77m out of business in last decade

Wilko paid out £77m to its owners and former shareholders in the decade before its collapse. Even last year, when Wilko losses spiralled to £35.9m , a £3m dividend was paid out. Meanwhile, £3.2m was taken out in 2018 when the discount chain slid to a £65 million loss, according to This is Money. The biggest payout was made in 2015 when £63m was paid out when one side of the Wilkinson family sold their shares to the other.

Signs advertising the ‘Wilko administration sale’ have been emblazoned across store fronts with administrator PwC confirming it is taking place across all shops.
