Beyond Yoga has opened its first brick-and-mortar store in Los Angeles, where the retailer’s story began in 2005. In developing a strategy for its physical location, Beyond Yoga focused on allowing its popular textiles to shine through via educational signage, thoughtful product displays, comfortable spaces and artistic installations.

Price had previously worked at M&S as trading director from 2005 until 2012 but left because it “was drifting in the wrong direction”. Instead visual merchandising has transformed the store, with dynamic displays using neon-lit areas to spotlight customer favourites within its clothing department.

Until 2005 that is, when the doors of La Samaritaine were summarily shuttered. Those plans were thwarted, however, when the store was forced to close for safety reasons in 2005. La Samaritaine is located in the literal heart of Paris next to some of the city’s other most famous sites including the Louvre and Tuileries Garden.

In the late 1990s, Gensler agreed to design the first 100 Apple store locations. After Gensler was contracted by Microsoft to design a handful of its brick-and-mortar locations, the firm was “fired” by Apple, but after Jobs’ death, the firm was re-hired. He stepped down as the firm’s CEO in 2005 but was Chair until 2010.
