Circle K Parent to Roll Out Self-Checkout Tech to 7,000 Stores

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. , parent company of the Circle K convenience store chain, will purchase more than 10,000 touchless self-checkout systems, with plans to deploy them in more than 7,000 Circle K and Couche-Tard stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe over the next three years. The Mashgin system, branded as “Smart Checkout,” relies on AI-powered technology that can improve customer checkout time up to 400%.

Apple to cut working hours for retail staff, Microsoft open to unionisation

Apple will make work schedules for US retail staff flexible amid a push towards unionisation, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing sources. The company told staff at some stores that scheduling changes will take effect in the coming months, the report said, quoting workers. The changes will include extending the minimum time period between shifts to 12 hours from 10 hours.
