Zoom Acquires Five9 for $14.7B to Bolster Customer Service Offerings

Zoom Video Communications has agreed to acquire Five9 , a provider of cloud-based contact center solutions, in an all-stock transaction valued at approximately $14.7 billion. With the acquisition, Zoom said it aims to build “the engagement platform of the future.” Taking a stake in the $24 billion contact center market also offers the company a nice growth opportunity as competition heats up in the video conferencing space and the pandemic-driven remote-work boom wanes.

David Jones’ strong second half buoys difficult year

Sales in department store David Jones jumped during the last year despite the continuation of the Covid-19 crisis and intermittent lockdowns hampering trade. Sales in the department store rose 2.3 per cent during the year to June 27, and 0.9 per cent in comparable stores, as customers increasingly shopped online through lockdown and unprofitable space was minimised.

Retail spending in June expected to fall: ABS
