Sainsbury’s braces for price war squeeze as it forecasts flat profits

Sainsburys has forecast flat profits for the year ahead as it looks to maintain momentum in a highly competitive market, despite reporting a solid 7.2% increase in annual profit. The UKs second-largest supermarket said it expects retail underlying operating profit for 2025/26 to come in at around 1bn slightly down from the 1.036bn it delivered in the year to March 1 and below analysts expectations of 1.08bn.

Movado’s profit slumps as sales fall

Movado Group has posted lower sales and profit for the year ended January 31. The companys net sales decreased 1.7 per cent to $653.4 million, reflecting declines in US wholesale customers brick-and-mortar stores and company-owned outlets. US net sales slid 4 per cent, while international net sales improved 0.2 per cent. On the bottom line, operating income decreased by more than half to $20 million and net income fell 55 per cent to $18.4 million.
