Myer has signed an agreement to acquire Premier Investments’ Apparel Brands business in Australia and New Zealand, in exchange for shares. Myer will acquire the brands Just Jeans, Jay Jays, Portmans, Dotti, and Jacqui E for 890.5 million new, fully paid ordinary shares. Myer will also receive $82 million of cash from Premier. China’s Alibaba said on Friday it had agreed to pay US$433.5 million to settle a US class-action lawsuit filed by investors alleging monopolistic practices by the e-commerce giant. Alibaba denied wrongdoing, saying it entered the settlement to avoid the cost and disruption of further litigation.
