Screwfix invests £1m into expanding its refurbishment programme

Screwfix is investing £1m into doubling its refurbishment operations as part of its commitment to keep products in use for longer.

Refurb by Screwfix will now include high value non-electrical items and water-based products such as pressure washers, showers, and taps, on top of its existing offer of electrical tools.

The initiative launched online at the start of 2022 and reached £2m in sales last year.

The £1m investment will go towards developing its refurbishment capabilities at its main distribution centre in Stafford.

Screwfix said it is also planning to double the number of Green Star products to around 3,000 this year. The label is used to highlight items with lower environmental impact to make it easier for customers to shop sustainably.

The retailer’s commercial director Matt Compton said: “Our colleagues tell us that working for a responsible retailer is really important to them and we have achieved some phenomenal milestones that we’re really proud of.

“We know there is much more to do and we’re committed to going even further to reduce our impact on the environment and make it even easier for our customers to shop more sustainably.”
