They were among the winners named last night at an awards ceremony in London’s Old Billingsgate market, attended by some 800 guests.

Judges described Parfetts’ entry as “outstanding” with the group challenging itself to be “the easiest wholesaler to do business with”.

During the pandemic, the company converted its depots into 24-hour operations, investing in depot expansions and 26 new lorries.

Like-for-Like sales increased by 40%, and online sales now account for a third of business.

The Green Wholesaler award was judged by The Carbon Trust. Associate director Silvana Centy said Booker’s submission outlined clear reduction goals, demonstrating reductions on carbon, water and waste and setting science-based targets in line with the level of decarbonisation required.

The evening also saw gold medals awards to suppliers, including Pepsi Max, which was named best retail brand, Peroni for best licensed brand, and Britvic for best use of data and insight.

Red Bull took home the prize for digital innovation, Kellogg’s won the Service to Wholesale gold medal and best new product was Cadbury’s Orange Twirl.

Molson Coors took home the green supplier award.
