Frasers Group puts 160 Studio Retail warehouse jobs at risk

Frasers Group is making cuts at its Studio Retail staff based in East Lancashire following weak sales.

The retail giant has entered a consultation period for over 160 workers at the retailer’s base in Accrington, Drapers reported.

The 164 employees at risk of redundancy, which are understood to include the logistics director and operations manager, will see the total number of workers at Accrington reduced from 258 to 94.

It comes as Frasers is planning to integrate Studio Retail’s operations at its Widness warehouse in Cheshire into the Accrington facility, affecting 13 people.

According to Drapers, the proposed measures are driven by a lack of sales at Studio Retail.

The latest job cuts form part of a wider restructuring of the ecommerce business, which saw nearly 100 customer service staff put at risk as Frasers planned close its Studio Customer Services Contact Centre in Clayton-Le-Moor and relocate operations to the Shirebrook office.

Last week, it was revealed the retail giant is shutting its Manchester office, placing roughly 100 jobs at risk across Studio Retail and I Saw It First.

Affected staff members have reportedly being given the chance to move to the group’s other offices depending on their role functions.
