Mike Ashley ramps up spend on private jet and helicopter

Mike Ashley has stepped up his yearly spend on his private jet and helicopter, annual accounts for his business Mash Holdings have revealed.

The company, which reports on Mike Ashley’s combined commercial activities, found the billionaire increased spend on his aircraft from £1.5m to £2.6m for the year ended 30 April, the Times reported.

Frasers Group purchased the corporate jet in 2016, splashing out £40.4m on the Dassault Falcon 7X, which could be “chartered at open market rates by third parties or staff”.

The jet flew from Luton to Mallorca over the Bank Holiday weekend, and has recently travelled to Dubai’s Al Maktoum international airport, Miami’s Opa-Locka executive airport, and the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah airport in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Additionally, Frasers owns a AW109 GrandNew helicopter for executive trips, which has recently travelled across London, Redhill, Coventry and Grimsby.

The news comes after Mike Ashley recently settled his legal battle with Morgan Stanley after he claimed “snobbery” was behind a $1bn cash demand which threatened to destabilise his empire.

Ashley and the investment bank reached a settlement following hearings in February, which meant no judgement would be passed by the High Court.
