Joe Browns poaches La Redoute exec as new CEO

Joe Browns has poached La Redoute’s chief commercial officer Dawn Bannerman as its new chief executive.

Bannerman, who joined the retailer this week, will be responsible for elevating the brand’s presence through growing its store estate, strengthening its online proposition and leading an international expansion.

She replaces Peter Alecock, who left the business earlier this month after less than two years in the role.

Bannerman joins from the UK subsidiary of French business La Redoute, where she first joined in 2015 as its chief marketing officer before being promoted to COO in 2018.

Prior to that, she held a number of marketing and advertising roles at retailers including JJB Sports, Very and George at Asda.

Joe Browns said Bannerman’s appointment comes at a time when the business is looking to accelerate its digital transformation and move into its new phase of UK and overseas growth.

The retailer’s chair Michael Truluck said: “We’re excited for our future with Dawn at the helm.

“Having worked with Dawn before, I know her tenacity, curiosity and drive, plus of course her wealth of retail, catalogue and ecommerce experience will help us take Joe Browns to the next level.

“We’d also like to thank Pete for his contribution over the last 18 months and wish him well in his next venture.”
