Kohl’s has announced the locations of the next 250 stores that will be opening 2,500-square-foot Sephora shop-in-shops in 2023.

Last year Kohl’s and Sephora announced plans to expand their partnership to all of Kohl’s more than 1,100 locations. With the addition of these 250 locations, the total Sephora at Kohl’s fleet will reach more than 850 by the end of this year, in line with the planned timeline of the rollout. Kohl’s also plans to open 50 smaller-format Sephora shops by the end of 2023.

Among the new locations opening in 2023 are seven states that will be getting Sephora at Kohl’s for the first time, including Arkansas, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, South Dakota and Utah, bringing Sephora at Kohl’s presence to 48 states.

Despite headwinds in the broader business, Kohl’s partnership with Sephora continues to be a bright spot for the company. In 2022, nearly 8 million Kohl’s customers purchased beauty products at Sephora at Kohl’s, and approximately 50% of Sephora at Kohl’s baskets included a purchase from an additional category. Additionally, in Q4 2022, Kohl’s saw its total beauty sales increase 90% thanks in large part to its Sephora partnership.

“I recently met with Sephora leadership and what I can tell you is that, one, we both are pleased with the partnership we’ve built and what has been accomplished in such a short period; and two, we both see immense opportunities to continue to drive sales and profitability in the future,” said Kohl’s CEO Toms Kingsbury on the company’s recent earnings call.
