PHILADELPHIA — As part of GIANT Co.’s commitment to making a difference in the local communities it serves, the chain has opened the first two of three new Philadelphia stores this month.

The third store, GIANT Heirloom Market in the Fashion District, is due to open December 16.

The first store opened at Columbus Boulevard and the second in Doylestown, Pa.

At the opening of the 46,000-square-foot Columbus Boulevard store on December 6, GIANT, part of Ahold Delhaize USA, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The store operates from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, and employs approximately 150 full- and part-time team members.

The Columbus Boulevard store also features GIANT’s signature fresh departments, including farm-fresh garden produce, fresh meat and seafood, full-service deli and bakery, coupled with expanded product variety. New offerings include sushi made in-store, a dedicated plant-based section, smoked meats, and a convenient Beer & Wine Eatery.

The store also offers GIANT Direct. Designed to serve customers when and how they want to shop, GIANT Direct gives consumers the opportunity to order groceries online for pickup or delivery at giantdirect.com.

The company celebrated the opening by making donations to each of the following community groups: Fridge & Families, Philadelphia Fire Department Engine 3, South Philadelphia Community Fridges and Women in Transition.

The opening of the Doylestown store took place on December 10. The 72,500-square-foot store offers customers GIANT’s signature fresh departments, including farm-fresh garden produce, fresh meat and seafood, full-service deli and bakery, with an expanded product assortment.

The store features both an in-store Starbucks and superfoods café Frutta Bowl; increased health and beauty care offerings; a new specialty cheese shop; smoked meats; and Beer & Wine Eatery. The store also offers GIANT Direct

The Doylestown store celebrated its opening by making donations to the Doylestown Fire Department and New Britain Baptist Food Larder.

These grand openings have capped a year of significant growth for GIANT in greater Philadelphia.

The Riverwalk GIANT, the chain’s two-level urban flagship store in Center City, opened in March, and the company’s new GIANT Direct e-commerce fulfillment center opened on November 8. The company also opened a new GIANT on Cottman Avenue on November 12.
