Macy’s Taps Caesars Entertainment Exec as Marketing Chief

Macy’s has named Sharon Otterman as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), effective Dec. 11, 2023. Otterman, a 25-year marketing veteran who was most recently CMO at Caesars Entertainment, will report to Macy’s President and CEO-elect Tony Spring.

Otterman will lead strategic marketing efforts at Macy’s, building awareness, engagement and loyalty among all customer segments via brand activation, campaign advertising and content planning, creative, visual merchandising, branded entertainment and media strategy. She also will be responsible for building on iconic Macy’s experiences such as the Thanksgiving Day Parade, the retailer’s Fourth of July Fireworks and its annual Spring Flower Show.

At Caesars, Otterman launched Caesars Sportsbook, a new sports betting brand in the U.S., and enhanced the sports betting and gaming brand experience. She also has held the CMO position at Madison Square Garden and for NBCUniversal’s news division.

“Sharon brings a diverse background in media, entertainment and digital transformation to Macy’s,” said Spring in a statement. “We are excited to leverage her expertise to bring more retail theater across our shopping experiences. She is a passionate strategist and has a successful track record of evolving brands, developing creative marketing campaigns and driving profitable growth.”
