Just weeks after confirming a new entertainment zone and dining area, Melbourne’s Chadstone Shopping Centre has now revealed plans to add a fresh food precinct and office tower as part of another $485 million development project.

A 26,500sqm food court dubbed The Market Pavillion will be built to accommodate 50 market retailers offering a range of services from everyday essentials to artisan produce and specialised buys.

Above that another level of mall will be built hosting services including childcare and health and wellness.

Above both will be a new 20,000sqm commercial office tower called One Middle Road that will house amenities including an outdoor sky garden, a business lounge and “first-class and end-of-trip facilities”.

Construction of the office block will be finished in mid-2024 and combined with existing facilities will expand the number of office workers housed to 6000 once complete.

Chadstone’s centre manager, Daniel Boyle, said the redevelopment marked the “next phase in Chadstone’s continual evolution”.

“The design and retail offer in The Market Pavilion combines the best of the modern fresh food marketplaces one visits whilst in Europe with the ambience and much-loved brands that are enthusiastically embraced by Melburnians locally.”

The combined redevelopments are in addition to the new entertainment and dining precinct, The Social Quarter, which is due to open this summer.

Officeworks’ corporate headquarters will be integrated into the refurbished Chadstone Place next year.
