ALDI Reveals Expansion Plans Across America
March 8, 2024
Discount grocer ALDI has revealed ambitious plans for growth in the United States, aiming to open 800 new stores by the end of 2028. This expansion includes both organic growth and conversions following the successful acquisition of Southeastern Grocers.
The recent acquisition of Southeastern Grocers, which includes Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket banners, is anticipated to drive significant growth in the Southeast region. ALDI will kick-start the conversion process this summer, with about 50 locations expected to begin the transition later this year.
CEO Jason Hart expressed excitement about serving more communities in the Southeast and meeting the growing demand for affordable, quality groceries. “As we look ahead to this next chapter in our company history, both the ALDI and SEG teams will play a critical role in driving the business forward for our future collective success,” he said.
ALDI also aims to bolster its presence in the Northeast and Midwest, intending to add nearly 330 stores in these regions. Additionally, the grocer plans to expand in the West, targeting Southern California, Phoenix, and new markets like Las Vegas.
Hart attributed ALDI’s growth to customer demand. “With up to 40% savings on groceries, new customers are inspired to try us out, and existing customers keep coming back,” he explained. “While price is important, we earn their loyalty by stocking our shelves with only the best products and offering a quicker, easier, and more enjoyable shopping experience.”
ALDI’s pledge to add 800 stores over the next five years underscores its dedication to meeting shoppers’ needs and making a positive impact on communities nationwide.
Currently operating more than 2,300 stores in 38 states, ALDI is recognized as a leading food and consumables retailer in North America. With a strong presence and a focus on customer satisfaction, ALDI continues to make waves in the retail industry.
