Streetwear brand HoMie has partnered with ABMT Textiles to build an Australian-first upcycling factory and scale up production.

With the facility, HoMie is transforming deadstock from some popular brands into new garments showcased at Melbourne Fashion Week’s Underground Runway under a new diffusion label HoMie Reborn.

Following the event, the collection was made available in-store at HoMie’s Fitzroy store and online on homie.com.au. Profits from the sale are earmarked for HoMie Reborn’s advocacy to help the homeless youth.

“It’s great to allow brands to consider reusing existing garments,” said Marcus Crook, creative director at HoMie.

“This collaboration with ABMT Textiles, a leader in natural fibre performance and fashion textiles, marks an exciting milestone in Australian fashion. The new upcycling factory will not only redefine fashion but also contribute to waste reduction and the circular economy within the country.”
