Domino’s delivery brings pizza virtually anywhere via Pinpoint

June 21, 2023

Domino’s Delivery program “Pinpoint” enables customers to place a pin on a map location to have their orders delivered to places other than their homes, such as parks. “We’re always striving to make customers’ experiences even better and more convenient, and Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery does exactly that,” said Christopher Thomas-Moore, Domino’s senior vice president and chief digital officer.

With Domino’s press release today, the self-proclaimed “largest pizza company in the world” appears to be the first company to offer a pinpoint pizza delivery service.

The new service is being launched in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and promises to bring pizza to customers almost anywhere; a park, baseball field, the beach, and so on.

Customers would need to:

  1. Download and use the Domino’s App
  2. Place their order
  3. Select “Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery”
  4. Drop a pin on the map for their desired location

The company states, “with Domino’s Pinpoint Delivery, customers can receive their order at a countless number of dynamically created hyper-local spots without a typical address…Domino’s will also alert customers when their delivery expert arrives at the pickup spot, at which time they can activate a visual signal on their phone, which will help the driver spot them.”

This is in line with Domino’s ability to disrupt their market, after being the first to introduce their Domino’s Tracker service, allowing customers to track their pizza delivery in real-time.

Customers will also be able to use Domino’s Tracker® in conjunction with Pinpoint for even more added convenience. This combined functionality will allow customers to follow the Domino’s delivery driver’s GPS location, and receive text updates.
