With Omicron waning out, Melbourne CBD is launching an additional 20 new stores in the coming months in order to revive its retail wing. This comes after last year’s expansion which added 20 new stores to the precinct.

Melbourne Central is home to 12 international renowned flagships: with the highly anticipated Lego store, the largest in the southern hemisphere, set to open in the coming months.

Melbourne Central Centre Manager, Mardi Ashkine is optimistic about this venture and is hopeful that retail will be back in full swing this year.

“We’ve had a strong February so far, with a 41 per cent increase in foot traffic compared to 2021,” said Ashkine.

“It’s been fabulous to experience an influx of shoppers again, who are seeking out cultural experiences and retail therapy.”

The centre is keen on extending to more food and beverage outlets as well such as Sushi Hub, Nene Chicken and Capriccio Grill. Some of the new stores set to open in the next six months include Cinnabon, Guess, Foodao, Puzzle Coffee and others.
