AFC leading scheme to create ‘clothing circularity’ in Australia

The Australian Fashion Council will lead the nation’s first National Product Stewardship Scheme for clothing textiles, aimed at improving the design, recovery, reuse and recycling of textiles. Launching in November 2021 and ending in March 2023, the scheme will provide a roadmap to hit ‘clothing circularity’ in Australia by 2030, in line with the National Waste Policy Action Plan targets, and is powered by a $1 million grant from the Federal Government.

Dollar General opens 18,000th store

GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. — Dollar General on Saturday opened its 18,000th store, which is located in Gulf Shores, Ala. “With each new DG store opening, we are extending our scale for good to help American households stretch their budgets on essentials, create new career paths for employees, contribute tax revenue to local municipalities and extend education opportunities through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation,” said Todd Vasos, Dollar General’s CEO.

Consumer Confidence Hits 10-Year Low

Consumer sentiment hit a 10-year low in November as inflation climbed to its highest level since the 1990s, CNBC reports. The article cites the University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index , which plunged to 66.8 for November, a 6.8 percent drop from the previous month.
