Positive Q1 Results: Lululemon, Lands’ End and Macy’s did More than Just Regain Lost Ground

While year-over-year Q1 2021 results were strong across the board, much of the increases were largely due to comparisons being made to sales during the initial onset of the pandemic. However, some retailers’ results went above and beyond the standard recovery: lululemon athletica beat out sales expectations with higher than expected growth; Lands’ End saw significant growth as a result of listing on third-party sites; and Macy’s turnaround efforts showed signs of yielding new customer growth.

Walmart debuts new app for workers, gives 774,000 associates a free smartphone

Walmart is rolling out Me@Walmart, a new mobile app for associates intended to “simplify daily tasks, serve our customers and plan for life outside of work.” The retailer is also giving 774,000 associates a free Samsung smartphone for access to the app on the job. Walmart associates will be able to use the phones for personal use outside of work but will be restricted while working on their shifts.
