Over 100K Mouthwash Bottles Recalled Across the US Due to Poisoning Risk

On Thursday, Nutraceutical Corporation announced that Heritage Store Hydrogen Peroxide Mouthwash is being recalled due to a potential risk of poisoning children. The bottles, which contain a certain concentration of ethanol, were found to be in breach of child-resistant packaging requirements, according to CNN.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said that consumers “should immediately place the mouthwash out of reach and sight of children.” Nutraceutical, the manufacturer of the mouthwash based in Utah, is reaching out to all known customers and offering them refunds or replacements.
According to the CPSC alert, the recall impacts the wintermint and eucalyptus mint flavors sold in brown bottles with white lids, which make up about 102,100 bottles. No injuries have been reported in connection to this product so far.
The mouthwash was sold through online stores such as Amazon, iHerb, and HeritageStore.com between October 2010 and December 2023, and it was available in stores such as Whole Foods, Mother’s Market & Kitchen, Mom’s Organic Market, Fresh Thyme Farmers Market, and New Season’s Market.
According to the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA), products like this mouthwash that require a specific concentration of ethanol should have child-resistant packaging.
