Dairy Queen and Rita’s Italian Ice Offer Spring Freebies
March 19, 2024
March 19 marks the official first day of the spring season, and there are two delicious giveaways to help celebrate and kick off the new season. Rita’s Italian Ice is offering a delightful treat, and Dairy Queen is celebrating with free ice cream cones.
Dairy Queen is giving away free small vanilla cones at participating locations across the United States. This offer is available all day, with a limit of one cone per person while supplies last. However, it’s important to note that the deal is not applicable to delivery or mobile orders. Additionally, DQ Rewards members will receive double points on any purchase made on March 19.
“Nothing says warmer weather is around the corner quite like Free Cone Day. We’re inviting fans everywhere to grab their friends and families and get their ‘Treat Szn’ started with something sweet — on us.”

While Dairy Queen’s current freebie deal offers only plain vanilla cones, fans eagerly anticipate the return of their beloved cherry-dipped cones. In recent years, availability has fluctuated with the seasons, with cherry typically making a comeback during warmer months. Dairy Queen has experimented with various flavors for their dipped soft-serve cones, including Dreamsicle, Fruity Blast, and even a pumpkin-flavored dipped cone. However, cherry-dipped cones hold a special place in the hearts of many fans, who eagerly await their next appearance on the menu.
As for Rita’s Italian Ice, guests at participating locations can enjoy a complimentary 6-ounce Italian Ice during operating hours from noon to 9 p.m. Rita’s is also adding to the festivities with a first-day-of-spring T-shirt giveaway.
Customers can choose any flavor for their free Italian Ice, including the new SOUR PATCH KIDS Watermelon Ice, which “will be available at Rita’s for a limited time starting the first day of spring, March 19, adding a burst of tangy and tart watermelon to Rita’s diverse menu,” according to the company’s press release. Rita’s expects to give away around 1 million cups of Italian Ice throughout the celebration.
