King Soopers Strike Ends After 10 Days

Grocer and employees union reach agreement on 3-year deal

A 10-day strike by 8000 King Soopers employees has drawn to a close after the grocer and United Food and Commercial Workers Local 7 tentatively reached an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement, The Denver Post reports.

Union members will vote on the proposed three-year contract on Monday, the article says. Terms of the deal are not yet public.

“After months of negotiations and after our members walked out on strike, we have reached a tentative agreement with King Soopers/City Market that addresses the company’s unfair labor practices and ensures that our members will receive the respect, pay and protection they warrant,” Kim Cordova, president of UFCW Local 7, told the outlet.

King Soopers has about 110 locations and is owned by Kroger, the nation’s largest grocery chain.
