Tesla Pauses Cybertruck Deliveries Due To Alleged Unforeseen Delays
April 15, 2024
Tesla has pressed pause on Cybertruck deliveries and informed buyers that there has been an “unexpected delay regarding the preparation of your vehicle.” However, a buyer on the Cybertruck Owners Club revealed a bit more, reporting being informed that Tesla issued a recall due to an accelerator issue.
Tesla notified another client, “We have just been informed of an unexpected delay regarding the preparation of your vehicle. We need to cancel your delivery appointment on Sunday and we will reach out again when we’re able to get you back on the schedule.” The note continued, “We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to hosting your Cybertruck delivery soon!”
A TikTok user posted a video on the platform showing a potential issue with the Cybertruck. The problem seems to initiate from excess lubricant on the accelerator pedal, causing the cover to loosen and slide forward, potentially jamming into a gap in the floorboard. This could lead to unwanted acceleration, in turn posing a serious safety hazard. However, Tesla has not officially confirmed the cause of the delay or any recall linked to this issue.
Tesla announced that deliveries are expected to commence again on April 20, but this setback may have consequences that hold up deliveries in the future.
The Cybertruck, which entered production late last year after experiencing several delays, has also faced complaints from buyers. These issues brought to light by buyers include limited visibility, issues with off-road driving, concerns about occupant safety due to insufficient crumple zones, problems with the CCS adapter, lower-than-anticipated range, discoloration of stainless steel body panels, as well as other issues.
On Saturday, @WholeMarsBlog, a prominent Tesla influencer, wrote on X (previously known as Twitter), “Tesla has stopped all Cybertruck deliveries for 7 days due to an issue with the accelerator pedal.”
A significant number of early Cybertruck deliveries have experienced breakdowns and required servicing, sometimes with just only a few miles behind their belts.
