Unemployment claims fell to a pandemic low last week

First-time jobless claims in the U.S. fell 14,000 to 269,000 last week, the lowest level since the beginning of the pandemic. A total of 2.1 million Americans were collecting unemployment for the week of Oct. 23, down from 7.1 million a year ago.
