Sydney’s Chatswood Chase will be home to a First Nation’s Fashion & Design (FNFD) pop up store for three weeks starting May 21.

The pop-up boutique – a partnership between Vicinity Centres, Afterpay and the Australian Fashion Council – will feature designers and labels including Gantharri designer Bobbi Lockyer, Clothing the Gaps designer Laura Thompson, Ihraa Swim designer Nat Dann, and Cultural Craftsmanship designer, Grace Lillian Lee.

The pop up will be part of the Edit Collection space that uses minimal yet futuristic technology to revitalise the retail experience. This includes a shoppable change room mirror, gesture-controlled screens for brand impressions and a digital assistant that assists with selfies.

The store is designed by Sydney based designer and art director, Kyle Jonsson. He has fitted out the space with fully recyclable clothes hangers crafted from upcycled marine plastics, ocean-bound plastics and post-consumer plastics, courtesy of Arch & Hook.

A panel with the designers at 10am this Saturday will be hosted by artist, storyteller and FNFD ambassador, Luke Currie-Richardson. The event will feature a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony by First Nations Elder along with catering and refreshments by First Nations Shared Knowledge.
