February 26, 2024

The Florida Lottery produced a big winner in a drawing held on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024. The big prize was $3.75 million. According to the Lottery, there was only one winning ticket sold for the drawing.

According to a report by Fox 35 Orlando, the jackpot ticket, which won a prize of $3.75 million, was purchased at the Publix supermarket at 10130 Northlake Blvd. in West Palm Beach. Saturday night’s winning numbers were 8, 9, 29, 36, 49 and 51.

Per the official Florida Lottery website, the odds of winning a Jackpot Triple Play are 1 in 15.24. The odds of winning the jackpot per ticket are 1 in 3,122,273.33.

However, that wasn’t the only giant lottery win in the state that day, according to CBS12. A Fantasy 5 winning ticket was sold at the grocery store on Hagen Ranch Road in Boynton Beach. A second Fantasy 5 winner was sold in West Miami, also at a Publix. The prize payout totaled $68,868.67.

Publix also produced another winner at its Lake Mary, Florida, store. The $61,180.67 Midday Draw for the Fantasy 5 was sold at the store about 23 miles from Orlando.

The Palm Beach Post reported that Florida is the luckiest state in the U.S. for lottery winners. The Sunshine State boasts 16 Powerball Jackpot winners in the last 20 years. They have all scored huge wins, an average of $175 million each.

The total number of Powerball jackpot wins was calculated over 20 years for each state, from 2003 to 2023. Then, they added the number of jackpot winners and the average jackpot winnings per winner to come up with the top luckiest states.

The luckiest states to win the lottery are as follows: Florida, followed by California, Missouri, a tie between New York and Tennessee, and Pennsylvania for the top five. Rounding out the list are Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and Arizona.

Florida’s latest big lottery winner has 180 days to claim the prize but only 60 days if selecting the cash option. Consequently, the jackpot has been reset to $1 million. The next drawing is Wednesday, Feb. 28.
