Chick-fil-A Introduces Drone Delivery in Brandon, Florida
November 16, 2023
Chick-fil-A has announced a new drone delivery service in Brandon, Florida.
On the company’s Brandon/Valrico Facebook page, it stated, “Drone delivery is now here at Chick-fil-A E. Brandon/Valrico only! For a limited time, order Chick-fil-A Delivery and enjoy a $0 delivery fee. The current delivery hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm, subject to availability. Delivery distance is limited. When placing your order on the Chick-fil-A app, select ‘Chick-fil-A Delivery’ to ensure your order will be delivered by drone.”
Chick-fil-A also made a separate post showing what goes on behind the scenes of a drone delivery order.
The process begins when a customer places an order through the Chick-fil-A app. Their order is then prepared and packed snugly into a white box by the restaurant’s diligent staff. The securely packaged box is then hitched onto a drone before beginning its journey to the customer’s location. Equipped with advanced navigation technology, the drone makes its way to the delivery address. Upon arrival, it gently lowers the boxed order to the ground, enabling customers to receive their orders right at their doorstep or at a location of their choice.
Chick-fil-A informed USA Today that they are currently experimenting with new modes of delivery. According to the fast-food restaurant chain, Chick-fil-A continually looks for inventive strategies to improve its customer experience. They are at the initial stage of trialing drone delivery at a handful of Chick-fil-A establishments.
Chick-fil-A’s decision to test drone delivery indicates a pioneering shift toward a futuristic model where drone deliveries could become the norm. Other retailers, such as Walmart, have indicated an interest in doing the same. It will be interesting to see how other fast food and restaurant businesses follow suit.
