The 2025 Toyota Camry Is Becoming 100% Hybrid
November 16, 2023
Pushing the automotive future to be less reliant on fossil fuels, Toyota has announced that the Toyota Camry will be solely available in a hybrid version starting in 2025.
The Camry follows in the eco-conscious footsteps of other Toyota models. The Sienna minivan, Venza SUV, and Sequoia full-size SUV are just a few vehicles that have already embraced the hybrid-only vision. This strategic decision underscores Toyota’s belief in the accessibility and acceptability of hybrid technology. Once a niche interest during gasoline price surges, hybrid vehicles have now become a common consumer choice.
“We’ve been putting electric motors and batteries in vehicles since the first Prius back in 2000, so it’s a space that we know and love.”

Toyota’s commitment to sustainability extends across its lineup, with a pledge to offer a hybrid version of every vehicle it manufactures. Presently, only three Toyota models — the GR86 and Supra sports cars and the 4Runner SUV — lack a hybrid option or don’t yet have a hybrid variant announced.
The transition of the Camry into a fully hybrid model is a significant stride. The Camry has been known as the bestselling non-truck or SUV car in America for the past 22 years, and along with the Prius, it is one of the models most synonymous with the Toyota brand. Toyota has offered a hybrid version of the Camry since 2007, so the upcoming redesigned 2025 model signifies an era where conventional is no longer an alternative. The hybrid-only Camry heralds Toyota’s dedication to a cleaner, greener future.
Just like other Toyota hybrids, the new Camry won’t need to plug in to charge. It will use its four-cylinder engine to power the car and also charge up the batteries for its two electric motors. This setup will give drivers up to 225 horsepower in front-wheel-drive models and 232 horsepower in models with all-wheel drive. Plus, just like other hybrids, the batteries charge up when you hit the brakes.
