American Eagle Outfitters has affixed a mezuzah, a parchment inscribed with religious texts in a metal box as a sign of Jewish faith, to the front door of its store in New York’s Times Square. The retailer’s CEO, Jay Schottenstein, is a Jewish philanthropist whose family has donated tens of millions of dollars to Jewish groups.
