Target Initiates Recall of Toy Mushroom Peg Sorters Due to Safety Concerns
November 17, 2023
Leading retail giant, Target Corporation, has announced a recall of approximately 1,850 Hearth & Hand with Magnolia Toy Mushroom Peg Sorters due to a potential choking hazard for children. Target quickly implemented the recall on Nov. 16 following recommendations from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled product in question is the 13-Piece Toy Mushroom Peg Sorter, identifiable by its model number 324-06-3185. The toy set includes a board filled with vibrant, dot-patterned mushrooms in various colors.
These toys, which were produced and manufactured in China, have been available for purchase both in physical Target store locations across the nation and through the company’s online platform, www.target.com. They were sold between the dates of July and September 2023 for a retail price of around $20.
The safety concerns stem from the toy mushrooms’ design. The toys are reported to have an issue where their stems can detach from the tops, creating a possible choking risk for young children. These concerns were brought to the forefront when the Minneapolis-based firm received five separate reports detailing the detachment of the mushroom tops from their respective stems. As of now, there have been no instances of injuries associated with the recalled toy.
As a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of young customers, Target is actively recalling units of this particular toy. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to double-check their toy boxes and playrooms, and if they find any such toys, they are urged to remove them from children’s reach immediately.
Consumers who have purchased this toy are asked to return it to their nearest Target store or through the online platform. In return, they will receive a full refund. This measure is part of Target’s commitment to uphold the highest safety standards and ensure the well-being of all its customers.
