Barnes & Noble has struck up a partnership with Characters Oy Ltd., which controls the Moomins book and products franchise. Moomins is popular across much of the world but is new to the U.S. “I don’t know why the United States doesn’t know the Moomins as the rest of the world does. They’re the most beautiful, peculiar stories, and—like all great classics—both capture kids and make wonderful sense for adults. The stories deal with very human issues of loneliness, kindness, community, friendship, and love, in a quirky way with lovely illustrations,” said Barnes & Noble CEO James Daunt.
