Surely Alcohol Free Wine Launches New Beverage

October 26, 2023

Men’s Journal shared how “nearly three years in the making, Surely is proud to announce the release of their non-alcoholic Red Blend! This brand new bottling mixes a foundation of de-alcoholized wine with a proprietary blend of organic teas, botanicals and other natural ingredients.”

The new Surely red blend is described as a “complex red with notes of dark fruit, toasted oak & vanilla. Not a varietal. A completely unique sip.”

As the non-alcoholic beverage market continues to grow, a new offering has entered the scene: a sophisticated, non-alcoholic red wine alternative expertly crafted to mimic the traditional wine drinking experience. The innovative Red Blend is a product of the combined viticultural acumen of Winemaker Jess Smith and the organic flavor chemistry expertise of Craft Beverage Developer Michael Colangelo.

The duo has successfully conjured up a game-changing concoction that bridged the realms of winemaking and mixology. Utilizing a base of de-alcoholized wine, they’ve added tantalizing layers of aroma, body, and texture. Colangelo’s creative twist incorporates ingredients such as organic teas to supplement the mouthfeel, French and American Oak to tone down the tannins, and ginger to summon a lasting, dry finish — making it an ideal companion for a cold-night campfire, grilled steak, or classic pasta.

Since launching the company, we’ve wanted to create a non-alcoholic red wine to savor on its own or enjoy with a meal – arguably one of the most difficult products to create in an authentic way that maintains its character without the alcohol.”

Founded in late 2020, Surely has been on a mission to revolutionize the non-alcoholic market. The company aspires to foster inclusive social environments and replicate the emotional ritual accorded with savoring a glass of wine. In addition to their enchanting Red Blend, Surely offers an assortment of sparkling and still non-alcoholic wines, available in both cans and bottles.

Their innovative approach hasn’t gone unnoticed. Since launching, they’ve amassed numerous accolades from prestigious organizations. Notable among these are medals from the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC), the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition (NYWSC), and San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC).

The overwhelming feedback we’ve heard about other non-alcoholic red wines is that they just taste like grape juice, so we wanted to create the complete opposite.

Ryan Hanson, the Founder and CEO of Surely, expressed their ambition to craft a non-alcoholic red wine that holds its own either as a standalone drink or as a complement to a meal. He acknowledges that creating such a product was a challenge given the need to preserve the wine’s character in the absence of alcohol.
