Coles sales surge despite pandemic, floods – but Covid costs $65 million

Costco makes its New Zealand debut

American wholesale retailer Costco has opened its first petrol station in New Zealand, as it counts down to the opening of its first full warehouse store. As in other markets, Costco is using petrol as a loss leader, selling fuel at around 20 cents a litre cheaper than nearby rival service stations. The petrol station, with 27 self-service pumps, is located opposite the $100 million Costco Westgate store which is set to open in late August and only Costco members can shop there.
