PHILADELPHIA — The GIANT Co. continues to expand its presence in this market, opening its latest store on Friday at 510 N. Broad Street.

The 50,000-square-foot store, located about a half a mile north of Philadelphia’s city hall, operates from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week and employs approximately 150 full- and part-time team members, the company said. The outlet includes such signature fresh departments as farm-fresh garden produce, fresh meat and seafood, and a bakery. Other offerings include a Starbucks, sushi made in-store, a hot foods section with smoked meats, and a Beer & Wine Eatery with slushie options. Customers will also be able to take advantage of an underground parking garage while shopping at the store.

The North Broad store will also offer GIANT Direct. Designed to serve customers when and how they want to shop, GIANT Direct gives busy families the opportunity to order their groceries online for easy pick-up or delivery at giantdirect.com.

GIANT says the new store also reflects the company’s commitment to making a difference in the local communities it serves. The North Broad store celebrated its opening by making donations to Engine 13, Independence Library, Library of Accessible Media for Pennsylvanians, Parkway Central Library, Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission, and the Philadelphia Police 9th District.

Another GIANT store about 25 miles to the northeast is set to open at 1025 Second St. Pike in Richboro, Pa., on Friday, July 1.

“As a company, we are committed to helping connect families over a meal by offering convenient, time-saving and fresh meal solutions, whether in-store or online,” said Manuel Haro, GIANT’s divisional vice president for greater Philadelphia, said when the store openings were announced earlier this month. “Our new North Broad and Richboro stores reinforce that commitment to our customers while also continuing our growth strategy within the City of Philadelphia and the surrounding communities.”
