Premade Charcuterie Boards From Sam’s Club Pose Salmonella Risk

According to a USDA recall notice, a multistate salmonella outbreak may be linked to recalled charcuterie boards that were sold at Sam’s Club stores. Reportedly, one customer in Minnesota fell ill after eating meat, including a Busseto Charcuterie Sampler.

The contamination was determined after The Minnesota Department of Agriculture tested an unopened sampler taken from a customer’s home and found it was positive for salmonella. Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. has since recalled over 11,000 pounds of Busseto Foods brand charcuterie boards due to possible salmonella contamination. 

The recalled charcuterie boards were made on Oct. 30, 2023, and packaged in 18-ounce plastic tray packages. They contain the stamp, “BUSSETO FOODS CHARCUTERIE SAMPLER Prosciutto, Sweet Sopressata, and Dry Coppa” with lot code L075330300 and “BEST IF USED BY APR 27 24.”


The products are sold as a twin pack with two 9-ounce packages. The recalled products were shipped to Sam’s Club distribution centers in Illinois, Georgia, Indiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and Texas. 

The recall notice states, “FSIS is working with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state public health partners to investigate a multistate outbreak of Salmonella.” 

The USDA says that eating food contaminated with salmonella can cause symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within six hours to six days after eating the contaminated product. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
