6 Hurt After American Airlines Makes ‘Hard Landing’ in Maui
January 29, 2024
An unexpected turn of events unfolded on American Airlines flight 271 flying to Maui. This journey that began in Los Angeles found a bumpy conclusion on a Saturday afternoon at Kahului Airport in Maui, Hawaii. The plane experienced difficulty during its landing, causing an abrupt halt and resulting in injuries to those on board.
As a result of the “hard landing,” a total of six individuals suffered injuries. This unfortunate group was composed of one passenger and five American Airlines flight attendants. After the mishap, they were promptly sent to a local hospital for necessary medical treatment. Thankfully, all injured parties were discharged shortly after, having been declared stable by the medical staff.
The American Airlines flight was carrying 167 passengers and seven crew members during the incident. Even after the hard landing, the plane managed to taxi to the gate autonomously, and passengers were disembarked in an orderly fashion.
Following the incident, the American Airlines aircraft was promptly taken off service. The airline’s maintenance team sprung into action, conducting a thorough inspection of the plane. This scrutiny is to understand what could have caused such a rough landing and to ensure future flights are free from such mishaps.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has taken note of the American Airlines incident as well. They made a formal announcement stating their intent to investigate the hard landing further. The FAA disclosed that the event occurred at approximately 2 p.m. local time on Runway 20 at Kahului Airport in Maui.
American Airlines, despite the unfortunate event, prioritizes the safety of its patrons and crew members. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of air travel, but also of the preparedness of airline staff in crises. Here’s to hoping that future flights to Kahului Airport and elsewhere experience calmer skies and smoother landings.
