Queensland-based gelato brand Happy Pops is expanding its footprint with its latest store slated to open in Eumundi.

The store, Happy Pop’s third in the region, is scheduled to open on Friday. The gelato chain was founded in 2018 by Augusta and Ian Puttkammer with the first outlet in Noosa, followed by another in South Brisbane a year later.

“We chose Eumundi as our latest destination because its roots are firmly entrenched in all things artisanal and that is what our handcrafted ice creams are all about,” said Augusta.

“We also love the connection it has to our local food and agribusiness producers as we try and source everything we can locally and this includes purchasing our milk from another iconic brand, Maleny Dairies.”

The young gelato chain has 34 staff members working to deliver a distinctive experience to gelato lovers. Augusta said the brand has been encouraged to open in large malls or expand under a franchise concept, but refused as it wants to “stay true to its vision”.

“We really have built a cult-like following for our ice creams which is why we are expanding slowly, Augusta added. “We must be able to replicate the experience in every store and the quality of our product must never be compromised.”
