GameStop’s digital push led it focus more on stores
March 29, 2023
Chewy founder and former CEO Ryan Cohen’s vision of turning GameStop into a digital juggernaut did not turn out as planned as the video game retailer saw its online sales decline and its losses grow. GameStop last year began refocusing its attention on its stores and cutting costs. That combination enabled the chain to post a profit last quarter, its first in two years. Sales, however, were down one percent year-over-year suggesting that GameStop has more work to do.
