New Tequila Promoted Pantless By Matthew McConaughey & His Wife Camila

October 25, 2023

In a spirited declaration of their latest venture, Hollywood icon Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila, uncorked the news about their new endeavor, Pantalones Organic Tequila, according to People Magazine. The announcement came with an amusing video, humorously outlining their ‘bare it all’ theme for the brand name, Pantalones.

As part of their promotion, they released a surprising promotional video via Youtube:

The McConaugheys, parents to three children, engage in a toast to this new adventure. In another playful shot, their pantless figures are once more blurred out as they walk away.

Engaging the audience with humor, they quip, “Please do not keep your pants on”. The couple’s joint statement reflects their adventurous spirit, asserting, “Pantalones Organic Tequila – the best thing we’ve made with our pants on”.

The Pantalones Tequila line features three distinct flavors. Blanco boasts notes of honey and citrus, Reposado, aged nine months, offers a taste of fresh oak and fruit, while Añejo, matured for 15 months, presents intricate flavors of vanilla, butterscotch, and maple, as revealed in their press release.

In a recent podcast with Jana Kramer, Matthew shared insights about his unique sense of humor, which is apparent in the video. Matthew stated that he cherishes his family’s value of humor and comedy, sharing that his mother, Kay McConaughey, is always up for a good joke. Camila fondly shared how Kay would invoke the names of Matthew’s ex-girlfriends in jest early in their relationship, leading to an enriching bond between them.

“My family is big on rites of passage and initiation,” Matthew stated on ET Canada, “and you don’t get into the McConaughey family easily.”

Mexican Tequila and Beer Dominate Market Share

CNBC points out how “since the turn of the century, Mexican liquors and beers have risen in popularity among U.S. consumers and gained significant market share in the country’s alcoholic beverages industry.”

The thirst for Mexican beverages such as tequila, mezcal, and beer brands like Modelo Especial and Corona Extra is on the rise among American consumers, driven by effective marketing, changing consumer tastes, and demographic shifts.

Last year, tequila and mezcal ousted American whiskey to become the second-fastest growing spirits category in the U.S., and are projected to outstrip vodka in 2023. The success of these spirits is largely owed to consumers’ preference for premium, authentic products.

Mexican beers have also experienced a sales surge in the U.S., with Modelo Especial dethroning Bud Light to become the best-selling beer in the U.S. this year. This growing popularity is attributed to a shift in consumer preference towards lighter, imported lagers and the growing influence of the Hispanic population in the U.S.

Despite the competition, brands are embracing authentic Mexican flavors and emphasizing cultural bonding to maintain their momentum. However, the increasing demand for tequila and mezcal may lead to price hikes due to the scarcity of agave plants. Regardless, the sustained popularity of these Mexican spirits illustrates the potential for similar growth overseas, making the future as intoxicating as the spirits themselves.
