California bill puts restriction on warehouse productivity quotas

Companies operating fulfillment centers and other warehouse facilities in California will be restricted from setting productivity quotas that make it difficult or impossible to take breaks or force workers to sidestep health and safety laws. A.B. 701, as the bill is known, has been signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom and will go into effect on Jan. 1. “The hardworking warehouse employees who have helped sustain us during these unprecedented times should not have to risk injury or face punishment as a result of exploitative quotas that violate basic health and safety,” said the governor.
