Showcase Opens 2 More Stores in New York Area

Canadian retailer’s latest outlets are in upscale malls in Hudson Valley and Long Island

Showcase (Brampton, Ontario), a fast-growing retail chain that calls itself “Home to the Hottest Trends,” has opened two more New York-area stores, in the Hudson Valley and on Long Island. Those outlets join existing outlets in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

The chain’s customers are encouraged to “try it before you buy it” with a constantly changing inventory of products open and on display, the area’s Patch news site reports in its story on the two new spaces.

Showcase CEO Samir Kulkarni told Patch that the retailer has “a trend technology team that tracks — on any given day — 6 million potential trends… We have a library of past trends and we can see patterns. We use that to clarify what the top trends are. Out of say 50,000 products, there are only 50 that are trendy in a huge way. That drives our sourcing agenda.”

As for its expansion roadmap, the chain focuses on top-tier super-regional malls. That’s reflected in its two latest locales: the Palisades Center in Nyack and the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station. Those openings bring the total number of Showcase stores in the U.S. to just over 40, in addition to about 110 stores in its home country of Canada.
