News Corp unveils online marketplace of endorsed products

News Corp Australia has launched news.com.au checkout, a dedicated commerce content destination it believes will “address consumer needs”.

The marketplace features product reviews, recommendations and information to help shoppers make shopping decisions and find the best deals, said MD client product at News Corp, Pippa Leary.

“Australians love shopping online but what is changing is the increasing time they spend researching products and prices before they buy.”

Leary said news.com.au checkout is the best way to attract high-intent, diverse audiences at scale in a trusted environment. It is uniquely accented towards Australian audiences and builds on the news site’s audience reach and engagement.

News Corp Australia’s director of e-commerce Adam Kron said the marketplace will help shoppers cut through the “dizzying array of choices and acres of information”.

“Along with its own team of specialist writers, our exciting new shopping destination has its own shopping-focused navigation and search, making it even easier for consumers to discover great content and solve their shopping needs.”

The site will specialise in categories such as consumer technology, home and living, health and wellness and beauty, sports and outdoor, Kron added.

News.com.au is Australia’s number one digital news brand according to the latest rankings from Ipsos Iris for August, with an audience of 11.648 million.
